Benidorm on Costa Blanca in Spain is situated in the region of Alicante. Back in the 1950´s Benidorm was still a small village of fishing families. The mayor back then got the idea to go to Madrid and ask the dictator Franco to stop the ban on bikinis. Surprisingly the general Franco lifted the ban and the rest is history. Just 11 kilometers up the coast is another trip worth wile is to take the Lemon Express towards the north to the town of Gata. The trip runs through beautiful lemon and olive groves. The town of Gata is famous for it´s production of wicker hats, chairs and baskets.
