New element in rural recreation: Trout fishing at Hondón Trucha.

Now the little village Hondón de las Nieves offers the opportunity of trout fishing. This is unique in the province of Alicante and the Communidad Valencia. The digged fishingpond is situated 15 kilometers from Elche on the foot of the Sierra de Crevillente. Trout fishing is very well possible, even in warm Spain. Hondón de las Nieves lies on 400 meters and the average temperature here is lower than on the coast. This means that during most parts of the year fishing is possible, tells owner Jan Keijsers.During the summer months the temperature of the water is too high and then there is no fishing. Remain 8 or 9 months for pleasant fishing recreation, adds partner Marguerite. Every moring, 7 days a week, between 8 and 12.30 hours Hondón Trucha is open. For every angler 5 trouts are put in the pond and the catch can be taken home. Groups of more than 10 persons can hire the pond during the afternoon hours.Trout fishing is action; you must animate the fish to bite and this is only possible by searching constantly for the wright bait. Fishing with fly or hook; in both ways you have to remain active. To those who are not familiar with trout fishing the owners are willing to explain how to do it.People who do not have a rod, can hire rod and gear on the spot.In case you don’t have a fishing licence: this can be achieved at every bank Rural Caja, also in Hondón de las Nieves. For 7,61 euros and a copy of your passport or NIE you have a licence for 1 year. Everyone who likes to fish or just wants to have a look, is welcome. Hondón Trucha is easy to find.
