Fishing possibilities on the Costa Blanca in Spain.

There is no true national fishing license system in Spain but you do need a regional license which you can obtain from the regional administrative office or from a fly or tackle office for aprox. 12 euro.

A special angling license obtainable from branches of Caja/Caixa Rural bank is required for fishing in reservoirs, rivers and estuaries on the Costa Blanca.

There are both public and private waters on the Costa Blanca in Spain and you will need an additional permit to fish in some of them.

Now the little village Hondón de las Nieves offers the opportunity of trout fishing. This is unique in the province of Alicante and the Communidad Valencia. The digged fishingpond is situated 15 kilometers from Elche on the foot of the Sierra de Crevillente. Trout fishing is very well possible, even in warm Spain. Hondón de las Nieves lies on 400 meters and the average temperature here is lower than on the coast.
