Javea on the Costa Blanca in Spain has according to the W.H.O. one of the healthiest climates in the world. Javea enjoys more hours of sun than any other place in Spain.

Javea on the Costa Blanca in Spain is situated with the same distance to two airports,Alicante and Valencia. The tourists that reach Javea are mostly accommodated in self catering villas and apartments. There are a few hotels in Javea but it is still not a place where mass tourism has taken over. British people have come to Javea in large scale for holidays for some years. Quite a lot have liked the place so much that they have settled for good in Javea. It is true that Javea is not a big tourist center but Javea do offer a high quality holiday for all ages.

Javeas situation on a triangular point standing out from the Spanish coast makes it the first place in Spain that catches the sun in the morning. Locally Javea calls it self the dawn of Spain. If you are up early you will be able to enjoy a beautiful sunrise in Javea.

There are 3 different sections in Javea on the Costa Blanca in Spain. The original Javea with its old town with narrow streets. Then there is the port area with luxury yachts alongside fishing boats and delightful street cafes. The third section is the Arenal beach. This is were the majority of the holiday makers arrive. The beachside promenade is packed with cafés, restaurants and bars as well all kinds of shopping possibilities.

The most famous feature in Javea is the mountain “the Montgo” Javea´s habitants swear it’s an elephant turned in to stone. You can even see the elephant’s eye close as the sun goes down. Especially if you have had some sangria.

The Arenal area turns in to a 24 hour beach and party in the months of July and August but apart from that Javea is a quiet place.

If you would like some time off the beach of Arenal you will find a lot to see and do in and near Javea on the Costa Blanca in Spain. Javea is spread out on a large area and you will need a car hire to move around. There are cultural and historical sites to discover. Fantastic walks. On the headlands there are two lighthouses with breathtaking views.

If you are staying in Arenal do not miss out of going to the port and the old town. Both areas completely different from each other. The old town is still uniquely Spanish with its narrow streets. You will get some great tapas at incredible prices in the bars in the old town. A good advice is to follow the Spanish, they know were the good food at bargain prices are to be found.

The historical heart of Javea is the church of Sant Bertomeu. One of the inner walls is from the year of 1244. Year when the Spanish king Jaime the Conqueror defeated the Moors.

The weekly market is on Thursday morning. The place for bargain prices leather jackets and cheap Cd´s.

The port in Javea is more geared towards the tourists but still maintain an original Spanish charm. In the port you will find the church of Nuestra Señora de Loreto, built after the survival of local fishermen after a storm as a thank you. The church is beautiful in it’s simplicity unlike a normal Spanish church which is anything but simple.

The Moorish fort Guadalest is perfect for a day trip as well as the beautiful city of Valencia with its museums, stores and places of architectural interest.

South from Arenal beach along the coast road you will find 2 pebble beaches, Portitxol and Granadella, set in wonderful scenery and well worth seeing. This area is perfect for beautiful walks.

Javea Nightlife

If party all night is your thing you are better off going to Benidorm. Still Javea has its share of discos and bars in the Arenal area.. During the summer months lot’s of the bars and restaurants offer live music entertainment. During the summer months there are discos to satisfy the young and the young at heart as well.

The Disco´s La Noche in Arenal and the Moli Blanc on the Cabo la Nao road are the most popular ones.

If Spanish Flamenco dance is what you would like to see, keep an eye out for the posters telling you were and when.

The Fogueres de Sant Joan in the middle of June is one of the most famous fiestas in Javea. The fiesta goes on for several days and finish with the burning of huge papier mache effigies in the old town. The effigies give a satirical view of the political and social issues of these times. The Moors and Christian fiesta takes place in mid July. Colorful and noisy parades through the streets.
