The
history of windsurfing only goes back to 1967 when the Californian
Hoyle Schwritzer placed a sail on top of his surf-board to
be able to keep moving when there were no waves. Today there
are national and international championships.
The
first lessons to learn when starting with windsurfing is how
to turn your board around. The greatest humiliation for a windsurfer
is to be seen sailing away from the shore into the sunset, only
to discover that one cannot get back without the aid of a rescue
boat.
There
are several windsurfing schools in the different towns on the
Costa Blanca in Spain.
A
good advise is to avoid windsurfing in the evenings. Have someone
to keep an eye on you from the shoreline if the wind is strong.
Do
not go away more than half a kilometer from the beach and remember
to wear a life jacket.
The
warm climate on the Costa Blanca in Spain makes it possible to
practice windsurfing year-round.
